Staff Nurse

Excel Healthcare is currently seeking a dedicated Staff Nurse on a full time, permanent contract to work in a children’s hospice located in South Dublin. Our client provides palliative care and support to meet the needs of children with complex and life-limiting conditions, as well as their families.

Responsibilities of a Staff Nurse:

  • Assess each child, plan, implement, and evaluate their care in collaboration with the family, ensuring accurate documentation.
  • Manage a caseload of residents on each shift.
  • Work within your scope of practice.
  • Promote family-centred care by maintaining a welcoming, caring, and safe environment for children and their families.
  • Providing a high standard of care and service within the workplace.
  • Communicate complex and sensitive information effectively to children, families, carers, and staff, offering support during emotional and distressing situations.
  • Support effective communication between multidisciplinary teams, other departments, families, and visitors.
  • Act as a preceptor for junior staff nurses.

Requirements of a Hospice Staff Nurse:

  • Active NMBI Pin as an RGN, RCN or RNID.
  • RCNs require a minimum of 1 year post qualification experience working in a paediatric setting.
  • RGNs and RNIDs must have at least 2 years of experience with children or young people with complex needs.
  • Genuine interest in children’s palliative care.
  • Knowledge of HIQA regulations and standards.
  • A degree or post graduate diploma in Palliative Care is desirable.
