Location: Waterford City or Dungarvan (flexible based on candidate preference)
Contract: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 35-hour week
Duration: 1-Year Specified Purpose Contract

Excel Recruitment are excited to be recruiting a Staff Grade Clinical Psychologist on behalf of a Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) based in Waterford City or Dungarvan. Job Purpose
The successful candidate will work as part of a dynamic and supportive multidisciplinary CAMHS team, delivering psychological services to children and adolescents (ages 0-18) with moderate to severe mental health needs. This role involves carrying out comprehensive psychological assessments, developing and delivering evidence-based therapeutic interventions, and working collaboratively with families, schools, and healthcare professionals to foster positive mental health outcomes for young people in the community.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct psychological assessments using a range of standardised tools and clinical interviews to support accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Develop and implement individualised, evidence-based therapeutic interventions for children and adolescents with mental health concerns such as anxiety, depression, eating disorders, trauma, ADHD, and ASD.
- Collaborate with a team of Psychiatrists, Occupational Therapists, Social Workers, Mental Health Nurses, Family Therapists, and Admin staff to deliver integrated, multidisciplinary care.
- Engage in case formulation and goal setting with young people and their families.
- Offer consultation and psychoeducation to parents, caregivers, and schools to support understanding and management of mental health presentations.
- Maintain up-to-date, confidential clinical records in line with HSE policy and PSI guidelines.
- Participate in regular clinical supervision, peer review, and CPD opportunities.
- Contribute to service planning and quality improvement initiatives within the CAMHS team.
- Ensure compliance with ethical and professional standards as defined by the Psychological Society of Ireland and relevant legislation.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Doctorate or equivalent in Clinical/Counselling/Educational Psychology and/or Chartered Clinical/Counselling/Educational Psychologist through PSI.
- Candidates qualified overseas must provide evidence of validation by the Department of Health at the time of application.
- Eligibility for registration with the Psychological Society of Ireland.
- Experience (including placement or post-qualification) working with children and adolescents in mental health or similar clinical settings.
- Demonstrated ability to apply psychological theory and evidence-based practice in a CAMHS or related context.
- Strong skills in clinical assessment, formulation, and intervention planning.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Full clean driving licence and access to a vehicle is an advantage.
