Role: Staff Grade Psychologist- Adult Mental Health / Psychiatry of Later Life

Location: Staff Grade Clinical Psychologist – Adult Mental Health / Psychiatry of Later Life.
Contract: Full-time, Monday- Friday, 35 hour working week.
Duration: 1-Year Specified Purpose Contract.
Salary: HSE Aligned Pay Scales (Staff Grade Speech and Language Therapist).

We are looking to recruit a Staff grade Clinical Psychologist who is interested in a rewarding opportunity to support adults and older adults living with a range of mental health challenges.

Excel Recruitment are recruiting a compassionate and motivated Staff Grade Clinical Psychologist to join an Adult Mental Health/ Psychiatry of Later Life team in Waterford City. We are seeking a dedicated Staff Grade Clinical Psychologist with experience in the area of adult mental health.

This is a rewarding opportunity to support adults and older adults living with a range of mental health challenges, through high-quality psychological assessment and intervention.

The successful candidate will work as part of a dynamic multidisciplinary team, contributing to holistic, person-centred care in a community mental health setting.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Deliver psychological assessments and evidence-based therapeutic interventions to adults and older adults experiencing a range of mental health difficulties.
  • Formulate and implement psychological care plans tailored to individual patient needs.
  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary colleagues including psychiatrists, mental health nurses, occupational therapists, and social workers.
  • Participate in case discussions, care planning, and multidisciplinary team meetings.
  • Provide psychoeducation, consultation, and support to families, carers, and professional staff as required.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records and documentation in line with professional and ethical standards.
  • Participate in clinical supervision and continuous professional development activities.
  • Adhere to relevant legislation, ethical standards, and policies as defined by the Psychological Society of Ireland and the HSE.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Doctorate or equivalent in Clinical/Counselling/Educational Psychology and/or Chartered Clinical/Counselling/Educational Psychologist through PSI.
  • Candidates qualified overseas must provide evidence of validation by the Department of Health at the time of application.
  • Eligibility for registration with the Psychological Society of Ireland.
  • Previous experience working in adult mental health or psychiatry of later life is highly desirable.
  • Strong clinical formulation, assessment, and therapeutic skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ethical and evidence-based practice.
  • Full clean driving licence and access to a vehicle is an advantage.
