Location: Limerick, Ireland
Job Type: Full-time, contract, 35 hours per week 8.30-4pm
Salary: HSE Pay Scale Applies, depending on experience

We have a fulltime Staff Grade Physiotherapist position available in an Older Persons Rehabilitation Hospital in Limerick.

This full-time opportunity allows you to join a busy, friendly, and dynamic team. The service includes 4 dedicated stroke beds, giving you the opportunity to develop your experience in stroke rehabilitation within a structured setting.

The post holder will work alongside Senior Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, and Multidisciplinary Teams to deliver exceptional care.

Role Overview

As a Staff Grade Physiotherapist, you will play a key role in assessing, planning, and implementing physiotherapy programs for older adults recovering from illness, injury, surgery, or stroke. Your focus will be on enhancing patients’ mobility, functional independence, and quality of life in a hospital rehabilitation setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct detailed physiotherapy assessments of patients’ physical needs, including mobility, strength, and balance.
  • Develop and deliver evidence-based treatment and rehabilitation plans.
  • Work collaboratively with the Multidisciplinary Team, including OTs, Nurses, and Medical Staff.
  • Support patients across the hospital, including those in the dedicated stroke beds.
  • Contribute to discharge planning and liaise with families and caregivers.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records in line with professional standards.
  • Provide advice on mobility aids, exercise programs, and rehabilitation techniques.

Essential Requirements:

  • Degree in Physiotherapy.
  • CORU registration as a Physiotherapist.
  • Experience working in a rehabilitation, hospital, or older persons’ setting.
  • Experience or interest in stroke rehabilitation is desirable.
  • Documented evidence of ongoing Continuing Professional Development.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and clinical reasoning skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a busy hospital environment.
