Excel Recruitment is delighted to be recruiting a Staff Grade Physiotherapist to join the Physiotherapy Department at Monaghan Hospital. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a busy Orthopaedic and MSK service, managing a varied and rewarding caseload.

About the Role:

The post is based in Monaghan Hospital, with a caseload comprising a mix of acute fractures and general musculoskeletal conditions. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, patient-centred physiotherapy care, supporting recovery, rehabilitation, and safe discharge planning.

This role is ideal for a motivated Physiotherapist looking to consolidate and expand their experience in acute Orthopaedics and MSK Physiotherapy within a hospital environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess and treat patients with a range of acute fractures, orthopaedic injuries, and general MSK conditions.
  • Deliver evidence-based physiotherapy interventions to promote recovery, mobility, and functional independence.
  • Work collaboratively with medical, nursing, and allied health colleagues as part of the multidisciplinary team.
  • Contribute to discharge planning and onward referral to community or outpatient services as appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation in line with CORU and HSE standards.
  • Participate in service development, audit, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Support student education and engage in ongoing professional development.

Essential Criteria

  • BSc or MSc in Physiotherapy.
  • CORU registration (essential).
  • Experience or a strong interest in musculoskeletal and orthopaedic physiotherapy.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong communication, organisational, and clinical reasoning skills.
  • Commitment to high-quality patient care and continuous professional development.

Desirable Criteria

  • Previous experience in an acute hospital or orthopaedic setting.
  • Experience managing patients with fractures or post-acute MSK injuries.
