Excel Recruitment is delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for a Staff Grade Physiotherapist to join the Physiotherapy Department in Portlaoise.

This is a true rotational opportunity, allowing you to gain valuable hands-on experience across: General Medical Wards, Outpatients, Musculoskeletal (MSK), Orthopaedics, Frailty Services, Neurology and Rehabilitation.

This diverse caseload makes it an ideal role for a Physiotherapist who wants to strengthen clinical reasoning, expand scope of practice, and develop confidence across multiple acute streams – all within a supportive and collaborative team.

About the Role

Based in a busy Model 3 acute hospital, you will manage a varied caseload including acute fractures, post-operative orthopaedics, MSK presentations, neurological conditions, frailty patients, and general medical rehabilitation.

You will work closely within a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, patient-centred care focused on: Early intervention, Functional rehabilitation, Mobility progression, Safe and effective discharge planning.

This position offers balance of acute exposure, outpatient and rehabilitation care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess and treat patients across acute orthopaedics, MSK, neuro, frailty, and general medical caseloads
  • Deliver evidence-based physiotherapy interventions to optimise recovery and independence
  • Work collaboratively with medical, nursing, and allied health professionals
  • Contribute to discharge planning and onward referrals
  • Maintain high standards of clinical documentation in line with CORU and HSE guidelines
  • Engage in audit, service development, and quality improvement initiatives
  • Support student education and participate in ongoing CPD

Essential Criteria

  • BSc or MSc in Physiotherapy.
  • CORU registration (essential).
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong communication, organisational, and clinical reasoning skills.
  • Commitment to high-quality patient care and continuous professional development.
  • Previous experience in an acute hospital or orthopaedic setting.
