Staff Grade Occupational Therapist (Adult and Paediatric)
Job Title: Staff Grade Occupational Therapist (Mixed Caseload: Adults & Paediatrics)
Location: Castletroy, Limerick
Contract: 6-12 months (with potential for extension)
Hours: 35 hours per week

Excel Recruitment is thrilled to partner with a leading Primary Care service in Castletroy to recruit a passionate Staff Grade Occupational Therapist.
This is an exceptional opportunity for a newly qualified or Staff Grade Occupational Therapist to develop skills in both Paediatric and Adult care while making a real difference in people’s lives.
What to expect:
- Varied Caseload, working with both children and adults in a dynamic Primary Care setting.
- Gain hands-on experience in diverse interventions, from child development support to adult rehabilitation.
- Monday to Friday schedule with no weekend or on-call commitments.
- Work closely with a multidisciplinary team, including Physiotherapists, Speech & Language Therapists, Psychologists, and Social Workers.
- Support & Development: Access CPD funding, clinical supervision, and mentoring to advance your career.
- Help children reach developmental milestones and support adults in regaining independence.
Your Role:
As a Staff Grade Occupational Therapist, you will be responsible for assessing, planning, and delivering tailored therapy interventions to both children and adults. You will work within a community setting, supporting clients to achieve their maximum independence and quality of life.
Key Responsibilities:
Paediatric Caseload
- Assess and treat children with developmental delays, sensory processing difficulties, coordination issues, and other functional challenges.
- Provide early intervention strategies and collaborate with parents, schools, and caregivers to support children’s development.
- Develop and implement individualised therapy plans to improve fine motor skills, handwriting, play skills, and daily activities.
Adult Caseload
- Support adults with neurological conditions, mobility challenges, cognitive impairments, and age-related functional difficulties.
- Provide rehabilitation, functional re-training, falls prevention, and self-care reablement.
- Conduct home and environmental assessments to recommend assistive technology, complex seating, and adaptations.
- Work closely within a multidisciplinary team to deliver person-centred, evidence-based therapy interventions.
- Maintain clinical documentation and contribute to service development, audits, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Engage in regular supervision, training, and professional development opportunities.
What You Need:
- Hold a recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy & be registered with CORU.
- Experience (or placements) in either paediatrics, adults, or both within a primary care/community setting.
- Excellent communication skills and a passion for working with both children and adults.
- Have good organisational skills
- Have excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a team-focused environment.
- Full clean driving licence and access to own transport is an advantage.
- Legal right to work in Ireland (current residency required).
