Job Title: Staff grade Occupational Therapist (Acute Hospital)
Location: Limerick
Contract: Full time, 6-12month contract (with potential extension)
Salary: HSE Salary Scale (aligned with experience)
This is a fantastic opportunity to work full-time in a busy, fast-paced acute hospital environment where you will contribute to patient care and gain valuable experience across a variety of clinical areas.
As a Staff Grade Occupational Therapist, you will be involved in assessing, treating, and supporting patients across a broad range of acute specialties, including:
Acute Medical & Surgical Wards, Care of the Elderly, Orthopaedics & Trauma, Stroke & Neurology and Acute Rehabilitation Services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality assessment and intervention to patients within an acute hospital setting.
- Contribute to treatment planning and delivery of therapy programmes to support patients’ recovery and discharge.
- Participate actively in discharge planning and liaise with the multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, effective care transitions.
- Educate and support patients and families regarding therapy goals, treatment, and progress.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date clinical documentation in line with hospital and CORU standards.
- Engage in ongoing professional development and contribute positively to team meetings, audits, and service initiatives.
Requirements:
- CORU Registration as an Occupational Therapist (Essential).
- Experience working in an acute hospital or similar setting (placement experience will be considered).
- Strong clinical skills with an interest in medical, surgical, orthopaedics, or rehabilitation caseloads.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
