Speech and Language Therapist (Paediatric)
Job Title: Paediatric Speech and Language Therapist (Primary Care)
Location: North Monaghan
Contract type: 6-month contract with possible extension.
Working Hours: 35 hours per week
Salary: Aligned with HSE pay scales
Excel Recruitment are currently recruiting a Staff Grade Paediatric Speech and Language Therapist to join a welcoming and supportive Primary Care team in north Monaghan. This is an excellent opportunity for a Staff Grade Paediatric Speech and Language Therapist with experience or interest in Paediatrics to make a meaningful impact within the community while gaining valuable clinical experience in a supportive Multidisciplinary primary care team.
Role summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Paediatric Speech and Language Therapist to deliver early intervention and therapeutic support to children with a wide range of communication, speech, language, and feeding difficulties. Working as part of a dynamic primary care team, you’ll collaborate closely with families and professionals to promote each child’s full potential through timely, evidence-based intervention.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Deliver comprehensive speech, language, and communication assessments and interventions for children aged 0-18 in a community-based setting.
- Work in partnership with families, schools, and early years settings to create and implement tailored therapy plans.
- Collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team that includes Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Psychologists, Social Workers, Public Health Nurses, and GPs.
- Support children with a broad range of presentations, including developmental language disorder, speech sound disorders, social communication needs, and feeding difficulties.
- Maintain accurate, confidential clinical records in accordance with professional standards and service guidelines.
- Participate in care planning, team meetings, service development initiatives, and professional supervision.
- Engage in health promotion, parent education, and preventative strategies within the local community.
- Provide onward referrals where necessary and support seamless transitions between services.
Qualifications, skills, competencies, knowledge:
- Hold a recognised qualification approved by the Speech and Language Therapists Registration Board at CORU.
- Hold CORU Registration (essential)
- Experience working with children in a primary care, educational, or community setting (clinical placement experience considered).
- Demonstrated ability to conduct assessments and deliver child-centred intervention using evidence-based practices.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team collaboration skills.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage a caseload and prioritise effectively.
