Excel Recruitment are seeking a CORU registered Speech and Language Therapist to join a well-established Adult Mental Health Service in Tallaght. This role covers both inpatient and outpatient settings, with no travel required.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Speech and Language Therapy Manager to provide comprehensive communication and dysphagia assessment and management for adults presenting with a range of mental health difficulties.
Experience in dysphagia assessment and management is essential, while previous mental health experience is not required, you will be supported and guided by an experienced multidisciplinary team.
Role Summary
This is a full-time contract position within an Adult Mental Health Service, providing assessment and intervention across inpatient and outpatient settings. You will gain valuable experience working as part of a collaborative MDT, including psychiatry, psychology, nursing, occupational therapy and social work professionals.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Deliver communication and swallowing assessments and interventions for adults with mental health needs.
- Work collaboratively with the SLT Manager and wider MDT to support service users’ communication and nutritional safety.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in line with professional standards, the Freedom of Information Act and Data Protection regulations.
- Contribute to treatment planning alongside service users, carers, and clinical colleagues.
- Foster positive working relationships within the multidisciplinary team to maximise service user outcomes.
- Seek support and clinical guidance as required, ensuring adherence to evidence-based practice and clinical governance principles.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
- Hold a qualification approved by the Speech and Language Therapists Registration Board at CORU.
- Dysphagia assessment and management experience is essential.
- Demonstrate strong clinical reasoning and evidence-based practice skills.
- Ability to plan and deliver effective assessments and interventions across a varied caseload.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
- Mental health experience is preferred but not essential.
