Social Care Leader

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise social care staff and/or family support practitioners
  • Work directly with children, young people, and families to assess needs and promote positive outcomes
  • Support the implementation of care plans, safety plans, and access visits in accordance with Children First
  • Promote the voice and participation of children and young people in decisions affecting their lives
  • Liaise with external services (education, accommodation, welfare, etc.) to coordinate appropriate support
  • Ensure compliance with Tusla policies, HIQA standards, and relevant legislation
  • Maintain detailed case records and prepare professional reports for case conferences, reviews, and court
  • Represent the service at multi-disciplinary meetings and professional forums
  • Foster a culture of dignity, respect, and unconditional positive regard in all interactions

Requirements

  • Registered with CORU as a Social Care Worker, or hold a CORU-approved qualification with evidence of application in progress
  • Minimum of 3 years’ post-qualification experience in a children and families or similar service
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to supervise and guide team members
  • Knowledge of child protection, family support, and alternative care best practices
  • Full driving licence and access to own transport

Desirable

  • Previous supervisory experience in a social care setting
  • Experience working in a statutory child protection or alternative care environment
  • Familiarity with Tusla procedures, HIQA standards, and interagency working
