Senior Speech and Language Therapist (Adult)
Job Title: Senior Speech and Language Therapist – Adult Primary Care
Location: Dun Laoghaire Primary Care
Contract Type: Part-time, 1 Year Specified Purpose Contract (July Start)
Working Hours: 28 hours per week (0.8 WTE / 4 days per week)
Salary: HSE Aligned Pay Scales (Senior Speech and Language Therapist)
Excel Recruitment is thrilled to be working on behalf of a Primary Care team based in Dun Laoghaire, with outreach across Blackrock and Stillorgan. We are currently seeking a Senior Speech and Language Therapist to join the Adult Primary Care Service on a 0.8 WTE basis (4 days per week). This is an excellent opportunity to step into a senior role in a supportive, dynamic team environment.
Job Purpose
In this role, you will provide client-centred Speech and Language Therapy services to adult clients with acquired conditions, delivering care across both clinic and domiciliary settings. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to support communication, safe swallowing, and optimal quality of life for adults in the community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialist assessment and intervention for adults with acquired communication disorders and dysphagia.
- Provide therapy in both clinic and home settings, adapting approaches to meet client needs.
- Develop, implement, and review personalised care plans using clinical reasoning and evidence-based practice.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary colleagues including Physiotherapists, OTs, Public Health Nurses, GPs, and Social Workers.
- Provide advice and training to families and caregivers to support therapy goals and reduce swallowing risks.
- Maintain accurate, high-quality clinical records in line with HSE standards.
- Participate in service planning, quality improvement initiatives, and clinical audits.
- Engage in supervision, team meetings, and CPD to continually grow your expertise.
Requirements:
- A recognised qualification in Speech and Language Therapy approved by CORU.
- Current CORU registration (essential).
- Min 3 years post-qualification experience
- Relevant post-qualification experience in adult caseloads including dysphagia management (essential).
- Postgraduate qualification or certified training in Dysphagia (essential).
- Clinical confidence in conducting swallow assessments and managing acquired communication disorders.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a Primary Care team.
- Full clean driving licence and access to own vehicle (essential).
