Job Title: Senior Speech and Language Therapist – Child Disability Services
Location: Dublin City Centre / South Inner City / Ranelagh
Hours: 35 hours per week
Position: Full-time
Contract: 1-year purpose contract with the possibility of extension?
Excel Healthcare is currently recruiting a Senior Speech and Language Therapist to join a dynamic Child Disability Network Team based in Dublin City Centre, with service delivery covering the South Inner City and Ranelagh areas.
Job Purpose:
The purpose of this role is to provide high-quality, evidence-based Speech and Language Therapy services to children with complex needs, as part of an interdisciplinary team within the Child Disability Network Team. The Senior Speech and Language Therapist will be responsible for the assessment, diagnosis, and management of speech, language, and communication disorders in children aged 0-18 years, contributing to the overall development and well-being of the child and offering support to their families and caregivers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver comprehensive speech and language assessments and interventions for children with a range of disabilities including developmental delay, intellectual disability, sensory impairments, and autism spectrum disorders.
- Manage a diverse caseload, providing both individual and group-based therapy in clinic, school, home, and community settings.
- Provide support and advice to families and caregivers on communication strategies to enhance the child’s participation in daily life.
- Work collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary team, including Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Psychologists, Social Workers, and other allied health professionals.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of individual family service plans (IFSPs).
- Provide clinical supervision and mentorship to staff-grade SLTs, students, and support staff as required.
- Maintain accurate clinical records and prepare reports in line with professional and organisational standards.
- Support service planning, innovation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and best practice guidelines.
Essential Requirements:
- Registration (or eligibility for registration) as a Speech and Language Therapist with CORU.
- A minimum of three years post-qualification clinical experience, with at least one year in paediatric disability services or a related area.
- Proven experience working with children with disabilities, including intellectual, sensory, and physical needs, and autism.
- Strong knowledge of best practices in assessment and intervention for speech and language disorders in children.
- Experience working in an interdisciplinary team setting.
- Postgraduate training relevant to child disability or additional communication needs is desirable.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and time management skills.
- Familiarity with the AON (Assessment of Need) process and national policies relating to children’s disability services is a strong advantage.
