As a Senior Podiatrist, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive podiatric assessments and treatment to adults with a variety of health conditions that affect the feet and lower limbs, including diabetes, vascular disease, mobility issues, and complex skin and nail pathologies.
You will work across a range of community settings including health centres, primary care facilities, and clients’ homes, delivering preventative care, education, and treatment that supports overall foot health and reduces hospital admissions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a podiatry caseload of adult clients with both routine and complex foot and lower limb conditions in line with HSE protocols and evidence-based, person-centred care principles.
- Deliver care in both clinic-based and domiciliary (home visit) settings
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate podiatric interventions across community and other healthcare settings as required, promoting self-management and positive health behaviours to improve long-term outcomes.
- Provide autonomous clinical assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning for a broad range of patients, including those requiring care in areas such as wound management, musculoskeletal podiatry, diabetic foot care, and minor nail procedures.
- Deliver single-handed clinical care in both low-risk and high-risk community settings, supporting early intervention and preventing the escalation of complex conditions.
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary primary care team, and refer or signpost patients to appropriate services as needed to support holistic care planning.
- Participate in clinical audit, service evaluation, and quality improvement initiatives to monitor outcomes and contribute to the ongoing development of high-quality podiatry services.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in line with CORU and HSE standards
Essential Requirements:
- BSc (Hons) or MSc in Podiatry.
- CORU registration as a Podiatrist.
- Minimum of 3 years post-qualification experience, with at least 2 years working in a community or primary care setting.
- Proven expertise in managing high-risk feet (e.g., diabetic foot care, ulcer prevention, and management).
- Strong clinical decision-making and communication skills.
- Ability to manage a busy caseload independently and prioritise effectively.
- Experience working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- A full clean driving licence and access to a car for community visits.
