Job Title: Senior Physiotherapist – Community Rehabilitation Team
Location: Limerick City and County
Contract Type: Full-time

Excel Healthcare is recruiting a Senior Physiotherapist to join a Multidisciplinary Community Intervention Team based at the Community Intervention Team building in Dooradoyle, Limerick.

This is an exciting opportunity to work at the point where acute and primary care services connect, delivering timely rehabilitation to adults and older people in their own homes across Limerick city and county.

Working alongside Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy and a Physiotherapy Assistant, you will respond to referrals from acute-setting Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists and provide focused, practical rehabilitation in the home environment. MDCIT aims to respond within 24-48 hours, subject to service demand and staffing levels, making this a fast-moving role where strong clinical judgement and collaborative working have an immediate impact.

You will manage a diverse city-and-county caseload with genuine autonomy, while benefiting from supervision, mentoring and CPD opportunities within the Limerick Primary Care Physiotherapy team. Travel time and expenses are built into the working day, with mileage covered in line with HSE rates. You will receive supervision, mentoring and CPD opportunities within the Limerick Primary care PT team. It is necessary to have a full driver’s licence and access to a car.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead comprehensive physiotherapy assessments and evidence-based rehabilitation for adults and older people with musculoskeletal, neurological, age-related and complex functional needs across Limerick city and county.
• Develop and implement individualised treatment plans tailored to each patient’s specific needs and goals.
• Support early discharge from hospitals by providing rehabilitation and reablement interventions in the community.
• Liaise with GPs, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and seamless patient care.
• Engage in regular supervision, peer learning, and professional development opportunities to enhance your expertise.
• Provide senior clinical leadership, contribute to service development and quality improvement, and share expertise across the interdisciplinary team to strengthen patient outcomes.

Requirements:

• BSc in Physiotherapy.
• CORU registration as a Physiotherapist.
• Minimum of three years of post-graduate Physiotherapy experience, with at least one year at Senior level (preferably in a community or rehabilitation setting).
• Strong experience in, Rehabilitation, falls prevention, Musculoskeletal, and/or Neurological Physiotherapy.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating leadership and initiative.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
• A full clean driver’s licence and access to a car are essential for community visits across Limerick city and county.
