Excel Healthcare are recruiting a permanent Senior Occupational Therapist to join a dynamic Children’s Disability Network Team (CDNT) based in Blanchardstown.

As a senior clinician, you will also contribute to clinical leadership, service development, and the support/supervision of colleagues within an innovative and collaborative team.

Job Purpose

As a Senior Occupational Therapist, you will provide high-quality occupational therapy services to children (0-18 years) with physical, sensory, intellectual, and learning disabilities, including autism and developmental delay. You will manage a clinical caseload, complete comprehensive assessments, develop intervention plans, and deliver evidence-informed therapy in partnership with children and families.

You will work closely with children and families to support independence, participation, and everyday living, while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of Speech & Language Therapists, Physiotherapists, Psychologists, and Social Workers. You will contribute to interdisciplinary planning, provide specialist advice within your discipline, and support best practice through mentoring, supervision, and shared learning.

This role offers the opportunity to apply and further develop your specialist skills in children’s disability services, while supporting the ongoing development of occupational therapy practice within the CDNT.

Role summary:

  • Provide senior clinical occupational therapy assessment and intervention for children aged 0-18 years, including complex presentations.
  • Provide specialist advice and clinical leadership within occupational therapy, supporting evidence-informed practice across the team.
  • Work under the direction of the Children’s Disability Network Manager (CDNM) and in partnership with discipline colleagues, contributing to service planning and quality improvement.
  • Work as a key member of the interdisciplinary team to provide an integrated, coordinated, family-centred service.
  • Provide consultation, training, and support programmes for parents/carers and colleagues, as appropriate.
  • Prepare high-quality reports and clinical documentation; liaise with schools and external agencies; and make onward referrals as required.
  • Attend and contribute to relevant meetings, case conferences, and clinical governance activities.

You will work with:

  • Children with complex disabilities and their families
  • Children’s Disability Network Team members
  • Children’s Disability Network Manager
  • Staff across educational settings e.g. in preschools and schools, which may include being onsite in Special Schools
  • All other relevant agencies working to support children and families e.g. Education, Health, Social, Vocational and Community Services/Agencies

Essential Requirements

  • BSc in Occupational Therapy (or equivalent recognised qualification)
  • CORU registration as an Occupational Therapist
  • Minimum 3 years post-qualification experience, including experience in paediatrics and/or disability services
  • Demonstrated experience supporting children/young people with ASD and complex needs, using family-centred and neuro-affirming approaches
  • Experience completing comprehensive assessments (including, where applicable, Assessment of Need) and producing high-quality reports
  • Evidence of clinical leadership, including supervision/mentoring of junior staff or students, and contribution to service development/quality improvement
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Full driving licence and access to a car
