Senior Occupational Therapist
Job Title: Senior Occupational Therapist (Adult Mental Health ADHD Team)
Location: Limerick
Contract: Type: 1-year contract, Part-time, 28 hours per week
Excel Healthcare is seeking a Senior Occupational Therapist to join a supportive and multidisciplinary Adult Mental Health ADHD Team in the Limerick community. We are looking for a CORU-registered Occupational Therapist who brings enthusiasm and empathy to their work and who is dedicated to empowering adults with ADHD and complex mental health needs to thrive.
Purpose of the Job:
The Senior Occupational Therapist will play a vital role in delivering evidence-based occupational therapy interventions within a multidisciplinary Adult Mental Health ADHD Team in Limerick. The focus will be on supporting service users to manage ADHD symptoms and associated mental health difficulties, fostering independence, and improving quality of life.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Manage a complex caseload of adults with ADHD and co-occurring mental health conditions in a community setting.
- Contribute to multidisciplinary assessments, care planning, and therapeutic interventions tailored to ADHD and mental health presentations.
- Participate in the integrated discharge and transition planning processes, in line with HSE guidelines.
- Ensure all clinical documentation and reporting are completed to a high standard, in accordance with professional and local policies.
- Provide leadership in the day-to-day running of occupational therapy services, promoting positive team morale and collaborative practice.
- Supervise junior staff and support the development of best practices within the ADHD service.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues, external agencies, and service users.
- Attend multidisciplinary meetings, reviews, and planning sessions, contributing clinical insight into occupational performance and ADHD-related challenges.
- Lead or participate in service development initiatives relevant to ADHD and adult mental health.
Requirements:
- BSc in Occupational Therapy or equivalent (essential)
- CORU registration (essential)
- Minimum of 3 years’ post-qualification experience (essential)
- At least 1 year experience working with adults in a mental health service (preferably with ADHD)
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Proven organisational and management abilities
- Competent IT skills for clinical documentation and communication
- Full driver’s licence and access to own vehicle (essential)
