Excel Healthcare is currently recruiting a dedicated Senior Medical Social Worker for a position based in an acute hospital in Navan, Meath. This is a contract role for full-time or part-time hours.

Responsibilities of this Senior Medical Social Worker job

• Deliver quality services per CORU and HSE guidelines.
• Carry out psychosocial assessments with patients and families
• Support patients in relation to the emotional and practical aspects of their illness and, where appropriate, advocate on their behalf.
• Be responsible for the management of the day-to-day provision of the social work service under the direction of the Principal Medical Social Worker.
• Conduct home assessments and follow up visits where necessary.
• Attend and contribute to weekly multidisciplinary meetings.
• Ensure the delivery of social work services in accordance with legislation, policies and procedures, guidelines and protocols.
• Develop effective working relationships with patients, families, different agencies, community resources and other professionals.
• Keep accurate records of all social work interventions, including statistical data in relation to client work.

Requirements for this Senior Medical Social Worker job

• Social care Level 9 Qualifications or equivalent
• Registered in the Social Worker Register maintained by the Social Worker Board at CORU
• 3 years minimum post qualifying experience
• Eligible to work in Ireland
• All necessary certificates
• Time management, problem solving and communication skills
• Maintain high standards and quality service
• Outstanding organisational skills
• The ability to absorb and understand procedural and legal information
• The flexibility to adapt to ever-changing situations
