Excel Healthcare is currently seeking an experienced Senior Hand Therapist on a permanent, full-time basis to work within a leading healthcare facility focusing on orthopaedic surgery, sports and exercise medicine and recovery located in North Dublin.

This full-time permanent contract is an excellent opportunity for anyone with previous experience as a staff grade hand therapist and for someone with a genuine interest in providing a dedicated therapy service in a specialised area of upper limb surgery.

Responsibilities of a Senior Hand Therapist:

• Work closely with the multidisciplinary team including the orthopaedic and rheumatology medical team, nursing staff and all other allied healthcare professionals.
• Participate in planning all service activities and to ensure therapy services are provided adequately.
• Educate all patients and relatives of patients.
• Maintain accurate documentation and medical records in line with the units’ policies.
• Report to the Therapy Services Manager.
• Actively participate in the development of hand therapy within the service and participate in research as required.
• Maintain a safe working environment and comply with infection control and prevention policies.

Requirements for this Senior Hand Therapist job:

• Have at least 3 years’ experience as staff grade hand therapist in Ireland, with a minimum of 1 year specifically within Upper Limb/Hand Therapy.
• Hold a BSc in Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy.
• Be registered with CORU.
• High levels of organisational and communication skills.
• Must have knowledge and experience in the assessment, treatment and management of patients with upper limb pathology, including post-surgical management of such patients.
• Demonstrate strong leadership skills and be able to manage a team.
