Are you a Senior Cardiac Physiologist who can independently scan and report Echocardiography and carry out Loop-recorder, pacemaker, ICD and Biventricular device interrogation & follow-up?

Excel Recruitment is delighted to partner with one of North Dublin’s most respected and progressive hospitals to recruit a Senior Cardiac Physiologist.

This is an exceptional opportunity for a skilled and ambitious Cardiac Physiologist to join a dynamic and expanding cardiology department, working alongside a dedicated team of Consultant Cardiologists and multidisciplinary professionals.

You will play a key role in delivering high-quality cardiac diagnostic services, driving innovation, and contributing to the continuous growth of the department.

Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Cardiac Physiologist, you will work across all areas of the department, performing and reporting on a broad range of cardiac investigations including:

  • Transthoracic Echocardiography: Independent scanning and reporting to BSE/EACVI/ARDMS standards.
  • ECGs: Recording, interpretation, and escalation of abnormal findings.
  • Loop-recorder, Pacemaker, ICD & Biventricular Device Interrogation and Follow-up: Including home monitoring and Heart Rhythm Ireland database management.
  • 24-hour Holter Monitoring: Patient setup, analysis, and interpretation.
  • Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring: Patient setup and reporting.
  • Event Recording: Hook-up, analysis, and interpretation.
  • Perform procedures and highlight abnormal findings for review.
  • Ensure proper calibration, maintenance, and sterilisation of diagnostic equipment.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and databases.
  • Provide reassurance and information to patients pre- and post-procedure.
  • Support and mentor junior physiologists and students.
  • Participate in CPD, departmental audits, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Respond effectively to medical emergencies, including performing CPR.
  • Adhere to all Health & Safety regulations and hospital protocols.
  • Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory support (angiograms, PCI, and emergency procedures).
  • Tilt-Table testing and patient monitoring during procedures.

Qualifications & Experience

  • A BSc (Hons) in Clinical Measurement Science / Clinical Physiology or equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar hospital-based role, including at least 1 year of independent Echocardiography experience.
  • IICMP-recognised qualification (or eligibility for same).
  • Demonstrated competence in device interrogation and rhythm analysis.
  • Excellent organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to work both autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
