Excel Healthcare is currently seeking a dedicated Public Health Nurse, to provide their expertise in the Cavan area. You will be part of a team of Public Health Nurses working in the health centres in this area, taking on a variety of responsibilities within the community.

This role will suit any nurses with prior public health nursing experience and those looking for more flexibility in their working life. As a Tier 2 supplier for the HSE, Excel Healthcare can help you pick your own shifts to suit your lifestyle.

Responsibilities of a Public Health Nurse:

• Maintain the highest standard of professional behaviour and be accountable for own practice.
• Promote the health, welfare and well-being of the community – children, family, older persons, those chronically ill etc.
• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate individual care plans.
• Report and consult with other nursing staff on clinical issues as appropriate.
• Provide nursing support to persons with a disability and their carers on an on-going basis.
• Provide nursing support to families following bereavement, family disharmony or break up within scope of practice.
• Provide education and information to the client / patient, their family as required and be an advocate for the individual patient / client and for their family
• Promote good interpersonal relationships with clients/patients, their family, social and community network supports in the promotion of person-centred care.

Requirements for this Public Health Nurse job:

• Hold active NMBI Registration Pin.
• Minimum 2 years post registration experience.
• Ability to work as part of the primary care team based in the community, alongside other public health nurses.
• Experience working in community nursing.
• High levels of organisational and communication skills.
• Experience in wound care, medication management and female catheterising.
• A compassionate approach to care for the community.
