Excel Healthcare is currently seeking an experienced Phlebotomy Nurse to work in a HSE hospital in Roscommon. This is a temporary role as part of a HSE contract.

This job will suit a nurse who is looking for more flexibility and who is looking to enhance their acute experience. The usual shift hours are 08:00-15:00 and you will be required to work in various areas of the hospital.

This role will suit anyone living in the Roscommon Town and the surrounding area.

Responsibilities of a Phlebotomy Nurse job:

• Verify patient identification and explain sampling procedures to patients.
• Maintain an organized and clean workspace.
• Obtain blood specimens by performing venepuncture.
• Be responsible for the correct labelling of blood bottles while ensuring that the correct volume of blood is inserted as per the laboratory guidelines.
• Collect therapeutic drug-monitoring assays by collaborating with nursing staff to ensure appropriate drug dose to collection time.
• Answering patient questions regarding collection techniques and offering additional resources on the collection process, if the patient requests them.

Requirements for this Phlebotomy Nurse job:

• Hold active NMBI Registration Pin.
• Expertise in phlebotomy is essential.
• The ability to work without immediate supervision throughout the hospital.
• Completed an approved Phlebotomy and Cannulation programme.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent time management skills.
• Good level of spoken and written English.
• Appropriate work authorization to work in Ireland (EU/EEA citizenship or valid work permit.
