Excel Recruitment is delighted to partner with the Wicklow Paediatric Occupational Therapy Team, part of Community Healthcare Networks 7 and 8, to recruit a Staff grade or Senior Occupational Therapist for an engaging and rewarding one-year contract.

Based primarily in Bray Primary Care Centre, which features a dedicated on-site paediatric gym, this role offers an exciting opportunity to work with school-aged children through group interventions and individual assessments.

The Successful Occupational Therapist will be supported by a highly experienced Senior Occupational Therapist, working jointly alongside you to provide guidance, mentorship, and clinical support.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Deliver comprehensive, child-centred assessments and group or individual interventions for school-aged children
  • Develop and implement evidence-based therapy plans that promote participation, independence, and skill development in daily activities.
  • Work collaboratively with a Senior OT and other MDT members, including Speech and Language Therapists, Physiotherapists, and Psychologists.
  • Utilise the on-site paediatric gym to support sensory and motor-based therapeutic activities.
  • Liaise with families, educators, and community professionals to ensure a coordinated, holistic approach.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in line with HSE and CORU standards.
  • Participate in service planning and contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Hold a recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy.
  • Be registered with CORU as an Occupational Therapist (Essential).
  • Minimum of 3 years post-qualification experience, with significant paediatric clinical experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise working with school-aged children (9+ years), including children with neurodevelopmental conditions.
  • Proven ability to manage a complex caseload and deliver evidence-based interventions.
  • Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent understanding of sensory integration, developmental milestones, handwriting intervention, assistive technology, and functional skill development.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with families, educators, and allied health professionals.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a child- and family-centred approach.
  • Strong organisational and time-management abilities.
  • Full clean driving licence and access to a vehicle (essential for community and school visits).
