Job Title: Staff Grade Occupational Therapist – Step-Down Facility

Salary: €50,000 – €60,000 Depending on experience, plus excellent benefits

Excel Recruitment is proud to partner with one of Dublin’s most progressive healthcare facilities to recruit a Staff Grade Occupational Therapist.

Based in North Dublin, this is a permanent, full-time role within a modern, purpose-built sub-acute step-down unit that works in close collaboration with St. James’s Hospital. With over 140 inpatient beds, the facility offers a rich and diverse caseload – including post-operative, surgical, and rehabilitation patients.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated Occupational Therapist who is looking to build hands-on clinical experience in a supportive environment, while working with a broad and varied patient group.

About the Role:

As a Staff Grade Occupational Therapist, you will support patients in regaining independence, adapting to new challenges, and transitioning safely from hospital to home or community settings. You’ll work closely with a multidisciplinary team to assess, plan, and implement effective, patient-centred interventions.

You will also benefit from guidance and mentorship from experienced Senior OTs and a highly supportive Occupational Therapy Manager, ensuring continuous professional development and learning.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage a varied caseload under the guidance of Senior OT staff
  • Conduct functional and cognitive assessments and contribute to care planning
  • Deliver evidence-based interventions tailored to patients’ goals
  • Participate in seating and mobility assessments
  • Support discharge planning with the multidisciplinary team
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and professional documentation
  • Engage in CPD activities, team meetings, and service initiatives
  • Work collaboratively with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Hold a recognised qualification (BSc or MSc) in Occupational Therapy
  • Registered with CORU as an Occupational Therapist
  • Some experience in acute, rehabilitation, or older adult care settings is desirable
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Eagerness to learn and grow within a dynamic team
