Floating Support Worker – Newry

Excel Recruitment is currently recruiting for a Floating Support Worker on a permanent full-time basis, based in Newry. As this is a Floating role, you’ll need a full, clean driving licence and access to a car.

Our client delivers a wide range of services to young adults and children experiencing substance abuse, mental health illness, homelessness, and self-harm. Responsibilities:

With a full copy of the Job Duties and Person Spec available on request, you will:

  • Work with young people between the ages of 16-25, providing a range of interventions enabling young people to access and maintain accommodation within the community.
  • Work with young people between the ages of 16-17 who are experiencing homelessness, at the risk of eviction, or “sofa surfing”.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Social Work/Youth Work/Community work and 1-year minimum experience working with young people in community-based, supported housing, or similar environment.
  • 2 years minimum experience working with young people in community-based, supported housing, or similar environment, without the above qualifications.
  • Experienced in risk assessment and safety planning to keep young people safe.
  • Experienced in assessing needs and support planning for young people.
  • Working with youth homelessness.
  • Resilient and able to deal with complex needs and challenging behaviours.
  • Full, clean driving licence and access to a car to meet the needs of the role.
  • Able to work shifts that will include evenings, weekends, and bank holidays when required.
