Excel Healthcare is currently seeking an experienced Director of Nursing (DON) for a brand-new, purpose-built nursing home located just outside Navan in Co. Meath. Located conveniently close to the Dublin/Meath border, this nursing home offers modern and spacious accommodation for each resident, for both short term and long terms stays.

This is an excellent career opportunity for individuals with a proven track record in successful management. This permanent, full-time position in a nursing home requires you, as the Director of Nursing, to oversee the delivery of high-quality care to residents and ensure the home’s smooth operation.

Responsibilities of a Director of Nursing job:

• Liaise with family members of all residents in relation to the care and service provided.
• Ensure the safety of all staff, residents, family members and visitors in line with policies and procedures of the home.
• Respond appropriately to any concerns or issues raised.
• Ensure risk assessments are carried out as necessary and proper actions are put in place.
• Maintain all files, records, reports are completed and kept in accordance with policy.
• Manage staff rosters and annual leave requests.
• Conduct interviews and induction for new staff members.
• Participate in service evaluation and identify any areas for improvement.
• Liaise with healthcare professionals and the HSE.
• Participate in HIQA inspections and support all staff members in their understanding and adherence to HIQA standards and regulations.
• Ensure the care provided by staff meets the needs and wishes of all residents.

Requirements for this Director of Nursing job:

• Hold active NMBI Registration Pin.
• A minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Director of Nursing in Ireland.
• Post graduate qualification in gerontology or dementia care.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Good level of spoken and written English.
• Appropriate work authorization to work in Ireland (EY/EEA citizenship or valid work permit).
