Excel Recruitment is excited to partner with a highly respected acute hospital in Cork to recruit a Clinical Specialist Sonographer to join its expanding team.
The successful candidate:
- Will join a busy Radiology Department, using the Latest Imaging Technology, under the leadership of an exceptional Radiology Manager.
- Join a team that includes three highly experienced Clinical Specialist Sonographers, each bringing a wealth of expertise across various ultrasound specialties.

The post holder will:
- The post holder will be a qualified CORU registered Sonographer who will be expected to work autonomously.
- The post holder will have a very strong background in Ultrasound, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to providing compassionate care to patients.
- The post holder will provide an efficient and professional ultrasound service, maintaining a high standard of patient care.
Responsibilities will include:
- Perform a wide range of ultrasound scans, including abdominal, gynaecological, vascular, and small parts imaging, tailored to your experience and interests
- Contribute to the development and implementation of operational policies, protocols and guidelines to ensure optimum utilisation of resources and systematic audit of such usage.
- Liaise closely with the Radiology Services Manager, Consultant Radiologists and other staff members as appropriate to ensure the smooth running of the service.
- Provide strategic and clinical leadership which results in the delivery of an effective, efficient, quality assured and patient centred Ultrasound service.
- Be accountable for the day-to-day quality of the service provided, including customer service and technical aspects.
- Contribute to the preparation of plans for the service-monitor and report on their implementation. Implement and maintain accurate information systems for clinical data in accordance with hospital standards.
- Participate in providing department audits and statistics.
- Have a working knowledge of HIQA Standards as they apply to the role for example, Standards for Healthcare, National Standards for the Prevention and Control of Healthcare Associated Infections, Hygiene standards etc.
- Implement and maintain a quality assurance programme for the Department.
- Follow best practice guidelines as outlined by IIRRT, BMUS, and hospital policy.
Eligibility Criteria:
- BSc in Diagnostic Radiography or equivalent
- MSc/Post Graduate Diploma in Diagnostic Ultrasound (desirable)
- Hold CORU registration
- Minimum 3 years Post Graduate experience in General Ultrasound.
- Demonstrate depth and breadth of experience in all aspects of General Ultrasound.
- Effective time management skills.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
