Excel Recruitment is currently recruiting Catering Assistants for a variety of clients across the Cork region, including healthcare facilities, nursing homes, contract catering sites, hotels, restaurants, and corporate dining environments. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and take pride in delivering high-quality food service and customer care.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation and presentation of food in line with company standards.
• Serve food and beverages in a professional and friendly manner.
• Maintain high levels of hygiene and food safety at all times.
• Follow HACCP guidelines and all health & safety procedures.
• Keep kitchen, dining, and food preparation areas clean and organised.
• Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
• Wash dishes, utensils and food service equipment as required.
• Assist chefs and kitchen teams with food preparation tasks.
• Replenish food and beverage stations during service periods.
• Support the catering team to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.

Requirements

• Previous experience in a catering, kitchen, hospitality, or food service environment is desirable.
• HACCP Level 2 certification preferred (training can be provided).
• Manual Handling certification preferred (training can be provided).
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Flexible and reliable approach to work.
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet service deadlines.
• Good understanding of food hygiene and cleanliness standards.

Desirable Experience

• Experience working in healthcare, nursing home, or hospital settings.
• Cash handling and customer-facing experience.
• Knowledge of allergen awareness and food safety regulations.

Typical Working Hours

• Morning, daytime midweek shifts available.
