Our client is seeking a compassionate, knowledgeable, and proactive Assistant Director of Nursing to help lead their well-established nursing home in Co. Wicklow.
About the Role:
As Assistant Director of Nursing, you’ll work closely with the Director of Nursing to ensure the delivery of exceptional care in line with regulatory standards and the organisation’s values. This is a key leadership role for a nurse who thrives in a people-first, resident-focused setting.
You’ll support clinical oversight, mentor staff, promote continuous improvement, and ensure every resident feels safe, respected, and cared for.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Support the Director of Nursing in the daily and strategic management of the home
- Ensure compliance with HIQA standards and all relevant legislation
- Promote a resident-first culture through the development of individualised care plans
- Provide clinical guidance and mentoring to nursing and care teams
- Contribute to recruitment, induction, supervision, and performance management
- Champion a warm, inclusive environment that prioritises dignity, safety, and independence
- Drive continuous quality improvement and support internal and external audits
- Liaise with residents, families, GPs, and allied health professionals
- Assist with scheduling, risk management, and clinical governance
Your Team:
- Director of Nursing providing strong mentorship
- Experienced clinical and care team with positive morale

Essential Criteria:
- NMBI-registered nurse (RGN, RPN or RNID)
- Minimum 6 years post-registration nursing experience
- At least 3 years in a senior or supervisory clinical role
- Strong working knowledge of HIQA regulations and elder care best practices
- Proven leadership, decision-making, and organisational skills
- Excellent communication and team motivation abilities
- Passion for delivering resident-focused, high-quality care
