Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver safe, accurate, and evidence-based radiotherapy treatments in accordance with prescribed treatment plans, departmental protocols, and best practice guidelines.
  • Verify and evaluate pre-treatment imaging to ensure precise treatment localisation, positioning, and delivery.
  • Undertake CT simulation procedures, treatment planning preparation, and clinical mark-up processes as delegated by the Radiation Oncologist.
  • Administer oral and intravenous contrast agents, where appropriately trained and deemed competent.
  • Monitor patients throughout their treatment pathway, providing compassionate, patient-centred care and support to patients and their families.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and comprehensive clinical documentation within the ARIA Oncology Information System.
  • Identify, investigate, and escalate treatment variances, equipment issues, or clinical concerns in line with departmental policies and quality assurance procedures.
  • Collaborate effectively within the multidisciplinary team to support optimal treatment outcomes and coordinated patient care.
  • Contribute to the planning, implementation, and evaluation of advanced radiotherapy techniques, technologies, and service developments.
  • Supervise, mentor, and support the ongoing development of Radiation Therapists, students, and newly appointed staff.
  • Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, and continuous service enhancement projects.
  • Ensure compliance with all radiation protection legislation, health and safety requirements, and organisational quality standards.
