Senior Speech and Language Therapist (Paediatrics)
Job Title: Senior Speech and Language Therapist – Child Disability Team
Location: Tallaght
Contract Type: Initial agency contract, with the possibility of conversion to an HSE contract after 3-6 months
Working Hours: Part-time, 22.5 hours per week
Salary: Aligned with the appropriate HSE Senior Speech and Language Therapist pay scale.
Excel Recruitment is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Speech and Language Therapist to join a HSE Children’s Disability Network Team in Tallaght, South Dublin.
This is a 22.5-hour-per-week role, to begin on an agency basis, with the possibility of conversion to an HSE contract after 3-6 months, subject to service requirements and the relevant HSE process.
You will work as part of an experienced multidisciplinary team alongside Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Psychologists, Social Workers and other health and social care professionals, supporting children and young people with complex needs.
About the Role
As a Senior Speech and Language Therapist, you will assess and support children and young people with a broad range of communication, speech, language, feeding, eating, drinking and swallowing needs. You will contribute to interdisciplinary assessment, goal setting and intervention planning in partnership with children, families and the wider team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Complete comprehensive speech, language and communication assessments for children with a range of developmental and complex needs.
- Assess and manage feeding, eating, drinking and swallowing needs within your scope of practice and in line with service protocols.
- Develop and deliver evidence-based, individualised intervention plans in partnership with children, parents, guardians and carers.
- Work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team to provide coordinated, child- and family-centred support.
- Provide guidance, training and practical strategies to families, schools, early years settings and other relevant stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate clinical records and contribute to service reporting, clinical governance and quality improvement.
- Support junior colleagues and students, where appropriate, and contribute to supervision, peer learning and service development.

Requirements:
- A recognised qualification in Speech and Language Therapy.
- Current CORU registration as a Speech and Language Therapist.
- Relevant experience at Senior level, including experience supporting children with disability and complex developmental needs.
- Strong clinical reasoning, assessment, intervention planning and caseload management skills.
- The ability to work independently while contributing effectively to an interdisciplinary team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative and respectful approach to working with children and families.
