Job Title: Staff Grade Occupational Therapist – Adult Primary Care
Job Type: Part-Time Agency Contract (14 hours per week)
Location: Shantalla Health Centre, 25 Newcastle Road, Galway
Salary: HSE Salary Scale (Staff Grade Occupational Therapist)

Excel Healthcare is currently recruiting a Staff Grade Occupational Therapist on behalf of an Adult Primary Care Service in West Galway City.

This is an excellent opportunity to provide Occupational Therapy services to adults and older persons living in the community, supporting individuals to maintain their independence, health, and quality of life.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be based in Shantalla Health Centre and will provide Occupational Therapy assessments and interventions to adults and older people across the community setting.

This role offers the opportunity to work as part of a multidisciplinary team while developing valuable experience within Primary Care services.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, person-centred Occupational Therapy services to adults and older persons in the community.
• Conduct comprehensive assessments and develop individualised intervention plans.
• Support clients to maximise independence and participation in daily activities.
• Carry out home visits where required to assess functional needs and recommend equipment or environmental adaptations.
• Work collaboratively with service users, families, carers, and multidisciplinary team members.
• Maintain accurate clinical records and documentation in line with professional standards.
• Participate in team meetings, case discussions, and service development initiatives.

Requirements

• CORU registration as an Occupational Therapist or eligibility for registration.
• A recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy.
• Experience working with adults and/or older persons is desirable.
• Strong communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Full driver’s licence and access to own transport is desirable.
