Contract: Full-Time, Permanent, 37.5 hours per week

Overview of the Role
As a Staff Nurse in Oncology, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality nursing care to patients undergoing cancer treatment. You will work as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team, providing holistic care across all stages of the patient journey-from diagnosis through to treatment and recovery.
This role offers the opportunity to further develop your oncology expertise in a well-supported environment with access to modern facilities and evidence-based practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high standards of nursing care to oncology patients in line with best practice guidelines
- Administer and monitor Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapies (SACT) where applicable
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments (physical, psychological, and social)
- Monitor patient progress and respond appropriately to treatment-related side effects
- Support patients and families with education, advice, and emotional support
- Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
- Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and infection control standards
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical audits
Essential Criteria
- Registration as a General Nurse on the active register of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI)
- Minimum 1 year’s post-registration experience in an oncology setting (essential)
- Experience in the administration of chemotherapy and/or SACT is highly desirable
- Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Commitment to delivering patient-centred, compassionate care
- Post-registration qualification in Oncology Nursing (or working towards same)
- Experience in acute hospital settings
- IV cannulation and venepuncture competency
