Job: Staff Grade Physiotherapist (Older Person Rehabilitation)

Location: Thurles, Co. Tipperary

Job Type: Full time, 35 hour agency contract

Duration: 6 months with strong possible extension

Salary: HSE pay scale applies

Excel Recruitment motivated and compassionate Staff Grade Physiotherapist to join a Community Hospital/ Older Persons Rehabilitation Service in Thurles.

This is an excellent opportunity to work in a supportive community hospital setting, delivering high quality, person centred care and assessments within a 12 bedded rehabilitation facility. You will play a key role in supporting patients to maximise their mobility, independence, and overall quality of life through evidence-based assessment and intervention.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive Physiotherapy assessments within a 12 bedded rehabilitation facility and implement individualised treatment plans focusing on mobility, strength, balance, and falls prevention.
  • Deliver evidence based interventions in both bedside and gym-based settings, utilising the on-site rehabilitation gym to maximise functional outcomes.
  • Facilitate individual and small group exercise programmes tailored to older persons in a structured rehabilitation environment.
  • Work closely with patients to support safe discharge planning, promoting independence in activities of daily living.
  • Collaborate closely with the Multidisciplinary Team regarding patient progress, goal setting, case reviews, and care planning.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and professional clinical documentation in accordance with CORU and professional standards.
  • Promote active ageing and provide education to patients and families on safety, mobility aids, home exercise programmes, and rehabilitation strategies.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Degree in Physiotherapy.
  • Full CORU Registration
  • Experience in elderly care or rehabilitation is desirable, we welcome applications from enthusiastic new graduates.
  • Strong clinical reasoning, excellent communication, and a proactive, team-oriented attitude.
  • HSE mandatory training (or willingness to complete prior to commencement).
