Location: Waterford
Contract: Full-time, 35 hours per week, (6-month contract with potential for extension)
Salary: Aligned with HSE Staff Grade pay scale, based on experience

Excel Recruitment are recruiting a Staff Grade Occupational Therapist to join a well-established multidisciplinary team within a university hospital in Waterford.

This is an immediate start opportunity, offering career growth in a busy and supportive hospital environment. You will have the opportunity to work across a broad range of clinical areas, including Neuro, Stroke, Orthopaedics, Medical, Surgical, and Rehabilitation.

As part of a passionate team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality assessments, interventions, and rehabilitation for a diverse patient population in an acute hospital setting. You will have the chance to expand your skills, take on new challenges, and make a real impact on patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality, patient-centred care within a variety of clinical settings, including orthopaedics, surgery, neurology, stroke, and rehabilitation.
  • Assess, plan, and implement individualized treatment plans to promote functional independence and rehabilitation.
  • Work closely with patients, families, and the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless care delivery.
  • Supervise and mentor junior staff and students, providing guidance and support to help them develop in their roles.
  • Contribute to service development and quality improvement initiatives within the Occupational Therapy department.
  • Ensure accurate and timely clinical documentation in line with hospital policies and standards.
  • Engage in continuous professional development and participate in training and educational opportunities to further enhance your clinical skills.

Requirements:

  • CORU Registration as an Occupational Therapist (essential).
  • Minimum of 1 year of post-graduate experience in an acute hospital setting.
  • Strong clinical skills, particularly in orthopaedics, surgery, medical rehabilitation, and neuro/neurology.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
  • A commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
