Social Worker (Child disability)

Location: Meath or Drogheda
Contract: 1 Year Full-Time Agency Contract

Salary: HSE Pay Scale (commensurate with experience)

Excel Recruitment are recruiting a CORU registered Social Worker to join a well-established Children’s Disability Network Team. The Social worker can be based in Meath or Drogheda.

This is a rewarding opportunity to work as part of an interdisciplinary team supporting children (0-18 years) with complex needs, including physical, sensory, intellectual disabilities, autism, and developmental delays.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive social work assessments of children and families presenting with a range of developmental and disability-related needs.
  • Provide family support, counselling, psychoeducation, and practical guidance to parents/carers.
  • Contribute to the development and review of Individual Family Service Plans (IFSPs), ensuring goals reflect family priorities.
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team including Occupational Therapists, Speech & Language Therapists, Physiotherapists, Psychologists, and others.
  • Assist families in navigating disability services, entitlements, respite, community supports, and advocacy pathways.
  • Participate in safeguarding work in line with Children First and HSE policies.
  • Build strong partnerships with schools, early years settings, community services, and voluntary agencies.
  • Maintain high-quality records, reports, and documentation in line with professional standards and CDNT guidelines.
  • Promote child protection, family wellbeing, empowerment, and inclusion at all times.

Essential Criteria:

  • CORU registration as a Social Worker (essential).
  • Experience working with children, families, disability services, child protection, early intervention, or community-based supports.
  • Strong understanding of Children First, disability legislation, family systems, and multidisciplinary working.
  • Excellent assessment, communication, advocacy, and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative MDT.
