Position: Medical Social Worker
Location: Drogheda
Contract: 6-Month Full-Time Agency Contract (High Possibility of Extension)

Excel Recruitment is currently recruiting a Medical Social Worker for a full-time agency position in a busy hospital in Drogheda. This is an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic Medical Social Work department and provide essential support to patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities:

• Completing psychosocial assessments for patients with a range of medical, social, emotional, and environmental needs.
  * Supporting patients and families during periods of illness, crisis, or significant life transitions.
  * Coordinating safe and effective discharge planning in collaboration with the wider hospital team.
  * Providing counselling, crisis intervention, and advocacy to ensure patient rights, dignity, and welfare.
  * Liaising closely with multidisciplinary colleagues including nursing, medical teams, AHPs, and community services.
  * Facilitating access to appropriate community supports, social services, and care pathways.
  * Maintaining accurate and timely documentation in line with hospital and HSE standards.

Essential Criteria:

• NQSW or equivalent
• CORU registration as a Social Worker (essential).
• Recent post graduate experience in an adult acute medical setting
• Knowledge of relevant national policies impacting on the delivery of acute hospital care.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a fast-paced multidisciplinary team.
• A commitment to the delivery of the highest standard of patient care
• Commitment to supervision and ongoing professional development
• A commitment to the social work team
• Understanding of the multidisciplinary team
