Excel Recruitment are recruiting a passionate and motivated Senior Occupational Therapist to join an Occupational Therapy team within a University Hospital Limerick.

This is an exciting opportunity to work part-time (0.5 WTE) in a busy, fast-paced acute hospital environment where you will make a meaningful impact every day.

As a Senior Occupational Therapist, you will play a key role in assessing, treating, and supporting patients across a wide variety of acute clinical areas, including:

  • Acute Medical & Surgical Wards
  • Care of the Elderly
  • Orthopaedics & Trauma
  • Stroke & Neurology
  • Acute Rehabilitation Services

This position offers exposure to diverse caseloads, strong interdisciplinary collaboration, and excellent opportunities for professional development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality patient care within an acute hospital setting.
  • Carry out expert assessment, treatment planning, and intervention across a range of acute specialties.
  • Lead on discharge planning, ensuring safe and effective transitions of care.
  • Supervise and mentor junior Occupational Therapists and students.
  • Contribute to service development initiatives and quality improvement projects.
  • Educate patients and families regarding therapy goals and progress.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in line with hospital standards.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development and training opportunities.

Requirements:

  • CORU Registration as an Occupational Therapist (Essential).
  • Minimum of 3 years post-graduate experience, including at least 1 year in an acute hospital setting.
  • Strong clinical skills in medical, surgical, orthopaedics, or rehabilitation.
  • Proven ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Leadership or supervisory experience is desirable.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
