Job Title: Staff Grade Speech and Language Therapist (Primary Care Adult)
Location: Blessington or Naas Primary Care Centres
Contract Type: Full-time, 1-Year Specified Purpose Contract (July Start)
Working Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Salary: HSE Aligned Pay Scales (Staff Grade Speech and Language Therapist)
Excel Recruitment is delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a well-established Primary Care service in Kildare, seeking a Staff Grade Speech and Language Therapist to join their adult services team. Job Purpose
The successful candidate will provide high-quality, evidence-based Speech and Language Therapy assessment, diagnosis, and intervention for adult clients, including those with communication difficulties, swallowing disorders (dysphagia), progressive neurological conditions, stroke-related issues, and age-related challenges. Working closely within the Primary Care Team, you will deliver timely interventions to enhance communication and safe swallowing, promoting dignity, independence, and well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide assessment, diagnosis, and intervention for adults presenting with communication impairments and dysphagia.
- Conduct domiciliary and clinic-based visits depending on client need.
- Develop and implement personalised care plans based on best practice and clinical judgement.
- Collaborate within a well-established multidisciplinary team including Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Public Health Nurses, Dietitians, Social Workers, and GPs.
- Provide training and education to families, carers, and other team members in supporting communication and managing swallowing risks.
- Maintain accurate clinical records in line with HSE and professional standards.
- Contribute to service planning, audits, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Participate in supervision, peer review, and continued professional development to ensure up-to-date knowledge and skills.
Requirements:
- Hold a recognised qualification approved by the Speech and Language Therapists Registration Board at CORU.
- Current CORU Registration (Essential).
- Experience working with adult caseloads, including dysphagia management (placement experience may be considered for strong candidates).
- Competence in completing clinical swallowing assessments and familiarity with relevant protocols and risk management.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organisational abilities, with the capacity to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Full clean driving licence and access to own vehicle for community visits (Essential).
