Job Title: Senior grade Speech and Language Therapist
Location: Athlone (covering Athlone, Moate & Ferbane)
Hours: 35 hours per week
Position: Full-time
Contract: 6-month specified purpose contract, with strong potential for extension or permanency
Excel Recruitment are recruiting a Senior Speech and Language Therapist to join a friendly, well-resourced children disability team in Athlone. The Senior Speech and Language Therapist will be based in Athlone covering Moate, and Ferbane.
We are seeking a dedicated and motivated Speech and Language Therapist to join a dynamic Primary Care team on a full-time contract basis.
As a Senior Speech and Language Therapist, you will provide specialist assessment, diagnosis, and intervention to children and young people (0-18 years) with complex needs arising from disability.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver a high-quality Speech and Language Therapy service including assessment, diagnosis, intervention, and outcome measurement for children and young people.
- Manage a varied caseload, including children with complex developmental needs, intellectual disabilities, and communication difficulties.
- Provide leadership and clinical support to junior colleagues and contribute to interdisciplinary case discussions.
- Collaborate closely with families, carers, schools, and other key stakeholders to develop individualised care plans.
- Contribute to service planning, policy development, and clinical audits to ensure continuous improvement.
- Promote evidence-based practice and participate in supervision, CPD, and training activities.
- Work independently while also contributing as an integral member of a collaborative and supportive team.
Essential Requirements
- CORU registration (or eligibility for registration) as a Speech and Language Therapist.
- Minimum of 3 years post-qualification clinical experience, with a significant portion working with children and/or young people with disabilities.
- Demonstrated expertise in paediatric Speech and Language Therapy, including assessment and intervention for feeding, eating, drinking, and swallowing (FEDS).
- Proven ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary team.
- Strong communication, organisational, and leadership skills.
- A full, clean driving licence and access to own transport.
