Job Title: Senior Occupational Therapist- Child Disability Services

Location: Dublin City Centre/South Inner City/Ranelagh
Hours: 35 hours per week
Position: Full time
Contract: 1 year purpose contract with possibility of extension

Excel Healthcare is currently seeking a Senior Occupational Therapist to join a Child Disability Network Team located in Dublin City Centre, with service delivery extending across the South Inner City and Ranelagh areas.

Successful candidate:

As a Senior Occupational Therapist you will provide comprehensive Occupational Therapy services to children and families in the south inner city region. You’ll be based within a highly skilled interdisciplinary team, supporting children attending a special school in Cheeverstown.

This Interdisciplinary team includes Senior Occupational Therapists, Staff grade Occupational Therapists, Psychologists, Senior & Staff Grade Speech and Language Therapist, and Senior Physiotherapists.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Organise individual and group caseloads, including assessments, interventions, and diagnosis for children (0-18 years) with disabilities such as physical, sensory, and learning disabilities, developmental delays, and autism.
  • Foresee potential challenges or competing priorities and take appropriate action to maintain service standards.
  • Foster a sense of accountability for budgets within the team, ensuring value for money.
  • Monitor, record, and report performance outcomes and service delivery statistics to meet targets.
  • Show innovation in managing resources to sustain and enhance service quality.
  • Provide line management and clinical supervision to basic grade occupational therapists, volunteers, and students as required.
  • Demonstrate sufficient clinical skills in occupational therapy assessment, intervention, and diagnostics to meet the specific needs of children with disabilities.
  • Offer occupational therapy services including assessment, intervention, clinical supervision, and ongoing care to children in the early intervention service

Essential:

  • Be registered, or eligible for registration, as an Occupational Therapist with CORU.
  • Have at least 3 years of full-time (or equivalent part-time) post-qualification clinical experience
  • Hold full CORU Registration.
  • Experience working with children with disabilities, including physical, sensory, intellectual, and autism spectrum disorder.
  • Relevant postgraduate training related to child disability services.
  • Specific experience in assessing and supporting children with autism and other disabilities.
  • Experience in working with children with life-limiting conditions.
  • Previous experience in a Senior Occupational Therapy role.
  • Familiarity with assessments under the AON process.
