Job Title: Senior Occupational Therapist- Older Persons Services
Location: Mullingar & surrounding areas
Salary: In accordance with the HSE PayScale
Contract Type: Fulltime, 1 year contract

Excel Recruitment is delighted to be recruiting a Senior Occupational Therapist on behalf of a HSE Older Persons Service in Mullingar.

This is a full-time position, Monday to Friday, and provides the chance to join a highly supportive and collaborative team, including experienced Senior Occupational Therapists who are on hand to offer mentorship and guidance.

What to expect:

  • Work with a Senior Occupational Therapist and multidisciplinary colleagues.
  • Access to ongoing training, CPD, and professional progression.
  • Work across a range of community settings, promoting independence and inclusion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Complete comprehensive functional assessments within home and community settings.
  • Develop and implement individualised care plans, with clear goals tailored to the needs of older adults.
  • Advise on and prescribe appropriate equipment and assistive devices (including seating solutions and postural support systems).
  • Support falls prevention, pressure care, and ADL (Activities of Daily Living) interventions.
  • Liaise closely with families and caregivers to support clients’ engagement, participation, and wellbeing.
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation and contribute to service development initiatives.
  • Provide professional input in multidisciplinary case discussions and care planning meetings.

Essential Requirements:

  • Full CORU registration as an Occupational Therapist.
  • Three years post-qualification experience (older persons or community experience desirable) to take up Senior role.
  • 1 Year post-qualification experience (older persons or community experience desirable) to take up Staff grade role.
  • Strong clinical reasoning, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Seating/postural care experience desirable but not essential – training will be provided.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Full driver’s license and access to a vehicle are essential for this community based role.
